• EAST VALLEY SPECIAL OLYMPICS

BACKGROUND

The East Valley Special Olympics Local Program started in 2012, but had its beginnings in 1989 as The Division 7 Mesa Little League Challenger Baseball Program.  Since then we have incorporated a year round Golf Program also.

PARENT ORGANIZATION

East Valley Special Olympics prides itself as one of the few Parent organized Local Programs in Special Olympics Arizona.   Our parents are strongly encouraged to participate in either Baseball or Golf in one way or another.  We are not a babysitting service or respite for parents.   If your child is participating we expect the parent or provider to be there at all times.

East Valley Special Olympics is not affiliated with any Parks and Recreation Departments.  The success of our parent fundraising allows us to provide the highest quality of sports training for our athletes. There are no paid staff. All funds raised are deposited with SOAZ for our Baseball and Golf Programs, and are budgeted for equipment, trophies, facilities, pictures, and supporting expenses.

REQUIRED TRAINING

All of our coaches and volunteers are required to pass Special Olympics Training for Class A volunteers, including a Background Check.

SPORTS

Easy Valley Special Olympics currently offers Baseball and Golf for our athletes.  This year (2020), will be our 31st year providing the opportunity for athletes of all disabilities from the East Valley to play organized Baseball.  Our Golf Program was started in 2012 and offers athletes the ability to play golf on our Special Olympics EV Golf Team from August thru October, or on the SOAZ Golf Tour from December through June.  The SOAZ Golf Tour is limited to 32 Teams of Golfers and partners that play Level 3 Golf (18 holes Alternate Shot) at some amazing courses throughout Arizona once a month from December through June.

We would love to have you join our Team as an athlete, partner, or volunteer.
